(Article by CraftHunterGaming)

You have heard of Singapore Travel Guide and Travel Informations . However , have you heard of a elevator guide ? No ? Well , if you are a lift/elevator enthusiast and filmer and want to come to Singapore to tour and film some lifts in the process , you have come to the right place !

Some info about Singapore ( from wiki )

Singapore (Listeni/ˈsɪŋəpɔr/ or /ˈsɪŋɡəpɔr/), officially the Republic of Singapore, and often referred to as the Lion City, the Garden City, and the Red Dot, is a leading global city-state and island country in Southeast Asia. It lies one degree (137 km; 85 mi) north of the equator, at the southernmost tip of continental Asia and peninsular Malaysia, with Indonesia's Riau Islands to the south.

Singapore ranks high on key measures of national social policies. It leads Asia, and 9th globally, on the Human Development Index, including education, healthcare, life expectancy, quality of life, personal safety, housing. Although income inequality is high, 90% of citizens own their homes, and the country has one of the highest per capita incomes. The cosmopolitan nation is home to 5.5 million residents, 38% of whom are permanent residents and other foreign nationals. Singaporeans are mostlybilingual, with English as its common language and a second mother-tongue language. Its cultural diversity is reflected in its extensive "hawker" cuisine and major ethnic festivals—Chinese, Malay, Indian, Western—which are all national holidays. In 2015, Lonely Planet and New York Times listed Singapore as their top and 6th best world destination to visit respectively.

http://www.yoursingapore.com/en.html You may want to use this website to get around Singapore if you are more interested in going to tourist attractions than filming lifts - tourist attractions usually have modernised / new lifts so dont hope to find an old lift there since Singapore is a very Modern country.

What to take note of if you are going to Singapore to film lifts.

Singapore has a tropical rainforest climate with no distinctive seasons, uniform temperature and pressure, high humidity, and abundant rainfall. Temperatures usually range from 22 to 35 °C (72 to 95 °F). From July to November, there is often haze caused by bush fires in neighbouring Indonesia, usually from the island of Sumatra.[102] Although Singapore does not observe daylight saving time (DST), it follows the GMT+8 time zone, one hour ahead of the typical zone for its geographical location.[103]

Thus , if you are planning to go outdoors and travel on foot , remember to bring an umbrella/raincoat with you as it may rain and leave you stranded in some building if you cant call a taxi . Avoid the haze too .

How to spend very little money while filming a LOT of lifts

You can travel by foot, bicycles, bus, taxis and train (MRT or LRT). Two companies run the public bus and train transport system—SBS Transit and SMRT Corporation. There are six taxi companies, who together put out over 28,000 taxis on the road.[185] Taxis are a popular form of public transport as the fares are relatively cheap compared to many other developed countries.[186]

1.Tourist Attractions

Tourist attractions include Museums .

2.Shopping malls for the average person

3.Train (MRT/LRT) stations

4.Community Clubs (CC)

5.Apartment blocks (HDB Flats) in Housing Estates

90.3% of resident households (i.e. households headed by a Singapore citizen or permanent resident) own the homes they live in, and the average household size is 3.43 persons (which include dependants who are neither citizens nor permanent residents).[202] However, due to scarcity of land, 80.4% of resident households live in subsidised, high-rise, public housing apartments known as "HDB flats" because of the government board (Housing and Development Board) responsible for public housing in the country.

There are a large variety of flat types and layouts which cater to various housing budgets. HDB flats were built primarily to provide affordable housing for the poor and their purchase can be financially aided by the Central Provident Fund.[2] Due to changing demands, there were more up-market public housing developments in recent years.

The first public housing built were in SIT Estates, usually located just outside the fringe of Uptown Singapore, such as Tiong Bahru in the Bukit Merah area. SIT estates also appeared in Queenstown such as the Princess Margaret Estate where construction began in July 1962. In SIT's early plans for the Estate, the new town planning concept was evident with their plans to build housing estates around a commercial centre. SIT FLATS ARE BEING DEMOLISHED AS OF 2015 . If you are lucky , you may find a old Shindler traction elevator ! (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LD0_6JaXzVY)

HDB towns are typically sub-divided into neighbourhoods, with most neighbourhoods served by a neighbourhood commercial centre. Depending on the size of the town, there can be as many as nine neighbourhoods, to as little as two. Except for the older towns, estates and consolidated towns, most towns use the first digit of their block numbers to indicate the neighbourhood in which the block is located in.
